TRINITYWOMEN on A MISSION: Worship Predates Music

Juggling work, ministry, family, and sometimes the pursuit of a higher education as an adult working professional can be challenging for some if not all people. This has been the story of my life for a while now. As difficult as it may be to believe, there are numerous moments of joy that spring up amidst what may see

m like an excessively busy lifestyle to some people. The brightest ray of sunshine through this whole experience has been my commitment to serving as a worship minister and a gospel music artist both independently and with the Kenyan Christian Fellowship in America. Even though TrinityLife is my church family that I love dearly, I am also a part of a wonderful Kenyan community here in Baltimore. On occasion, I travel to various states ministering in music in churches and conferences. However, one of the joys of serving in music ministry has been my efforts with the Kenyan Christian Fellowship Worship Team here at home in Baltimore.

Since music and worship are two concepts that revolve around my lifestyle as a worship minister, let me share a little bit on the subject from my perspective. Music has been an integral part of my life, having been raised in a musical family so-to-speak. Trust me, my siblings and I can break into song at the mention of any word! It can be a little annoying at times, but we have fun with it! However, my firm belief is that worship predates music. I believe that music is a tool that enhances what worship already is. Consistent with this belief about the place of worship, worship has not only become an integral part of my life, but is my lifestyle. My primary focus in music has grown into Praise and Worship. I can testify that this change has completely transformed my love of music as a worship minister. I enjoy leading God’s people in worship in my travels and also locally with the Kenya Christian Fellowship. With the support of my loving husband Ben, I am able to pursue what some may consider a hobby in my free time. To me, the presentation of my alabaster box to my Lord and Savior in a lifestyle of worship daily takes the cup above all else. Worship predates music. Yearn and live a lifestyle of worship.
