THE COOK’S CORNER: Italian Sausage and Green Peppers
Hello, my name is Anita Shaw and I have been attending Trinity since 1984. Being Italian, I originally came from a Roman Catholic background and always have had a heart for God. I was married in the Catholic Church and we raised our five children Catholic. In 1973, I was introduced to the Charismatic Renewal and I became "born again" and I have never been the same spiritually. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and received the gift of speaking in tongues. Through the years, I have had some ups and downs and some challenges to deal with, but God has always been faithful to see me through it all. I'd like to share one of my favorite recipes, Italian sausage and green peppers.
Ingredients:
1 lb. of Italian sausage (I use mild.)
1 medium onion, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced
1 8-oz. can of sliced mushrooms (optional)
2 8-oz. cans of tomato sauce
1/2 can of water (more if needed)
1/4 tsp. of basil
1/4 tsp. of parsley
1/4 tsp. of oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Cut sausage bite size; brown. Pour off grease. Add tomato sauce plus, 1/2 can water. Add onions, green peppers, mushrooms (drained), and the rest of the ingredients. Cover; simmer approximately 45 minutes. Stir occasionally. This dish can be made ahead of time. Serves 4.
Enjoy!
